Scoil San Phroinsias is a co-educational school operating under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Galway. The school participates in Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS) Urban Band 2, the action plan of the Department of Education and Skills for educational inclusion.
Under the action plan the school benefits from initiatives such as Home School Community Liaison and School Completion Programme. It is situated on the outskirts of Galway city and at this time has 450 children.
20% of our children are from a traveller background, almost 35% are international and there are 39 different nationalities. The school was set up in 1985 in temporary accommodation and is now thriving.
