Paikuse Pohikool is a basic school with 573 students and 42 teachers. Our students are at the age of 7-16 (in primary school 7-11). The school is situated in Pärnu (83 000 inhabitants, in the South-West of Estonia). Pärnu is a popular health resort with its sandy beaches and the sea. The area where the school is located is quite advantage one. Social conditions are usually good, there is a strong population increase and also a good economic development, especially in the building industry.
The school was founded in 1990 as a primary school and since then it has grown gradually. Our institution is well equipped with ICT facilities, there is a new library, a sports centre and a stadium, as well as an assembly hall.
Besides traditional subjects, the school curriculum includes the teaching of such interesting subjects as chess and folk dance. In Grade 3 our students start to study English and in Grade 6 the Russian language. There are several choirs in our school. Students can take part in several hobby clubs at school, such as robotics, first steps in science,
Paikuse Hobby school is located in the same building with Paikuse Basic School. After lessons the students can paint, create ceramic sculptures, deal with media studies, drone study or take part in drama or dance clubs. Not far from Paikuse Basic School there is Paikuse Police Collage which is a good partner for our school.
