FROM BOOKS TO FILMS: “Els Pastorets” (Catalonia’s play)
Els Pastorets is a typical, Catalan-style play, which is represented during the Christmas holidays. It tells the story of some shepherds, who receive the warning from an angel saying that Jesus was born. Knowing it, the shepherds want to go to adore him, but the forces of evil and good will interfere repeatedly.
It is a typical theatre play that 6th grade students performed last Christmas and it’s also performed in many places in Catalonia. It was written by Josep M. Folch i Torres, a Catalan writer. This version is written by Adelaida Frías. It lasts for 6 minutes in five acts as it’s a summary of the whole play.
